Making Yahoo! your homepage


Description

Learn how to update your web browser so that the Yahoo! homepage is the starting page when it opens.


Resolution

For steps explaining how to change your browser's default homepage, select your browser from the list below:

Note: If you’re running a browser other than those listed above, refer to your browser's help file for instructions.

Internet Explorer 7.0 and higher

  1. Click Tools | Internet Options from the browser men bar.
    -The "Internet Options" dialog box appears.
  2. On the "General" tab, in the "Home Page" text box, enter http://www.yahoo.com/.
  3. Click Apply.
  4. Click OK.

Firefox 3.5 and higher

  1. Click Tools | Internet Options from the browser menu bar.
    -The "Internet Options" dialog box appears.
  2. Click Main or General.
  3. In the "Home Page" text box, enter http://www.yahoo.com/.
  4. Click OK.

Safari 3.x

  • On a Macintosh -- Click Safari | Preferences from the browser menu bar.
  • On a Windows PC -- Click Edit | Preferences from the browser menu bar.
    -The "General" dialog box appears.
  1. In the "General" dialog box, click General.
  2. In the "Home Page" text box, enter http://www.yahoo.com/.
  3. Click X to close the dialog box.

Opera 9.5

  1. Click Tools | Preferences from the browser menu bar.
  2. Click the General tab.
  3. In the "Startup" pull-down menu, select Start with home page.
  4. In the "Home page" field, type http://www.yahoo.com/.
  5. Click OK.

Chrome

  1. Click the Chrome menu from the browser menu bar.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Under "Appearance," check the Show Home button checkbox.
  4. Under "Show Home button," click Change.
  5. Select Open this page.
  6. In the "Open this page" field, enter http://www.yahoo.com/
  7. Click OK.

Note: If you cannot change the homepage location in your browser, try contacting your Internet Service Provider (e.g., Comcast, AT&T, etc.) to see if they can change this setting.
