The cause is often a Yahoo! Mail server overload.

If you're able to log into other areas of Yahoo!, and not Yahoo! Mail, the issue is probably with your Yahoo! Mail account. If you're being continually asked to verify just your password while your Yahoo! ID is displayed, please try the following:

• If your name is displayed at the top left of this page, you're properly logged into Yahoo!. If you're not signed in, please click Sign In at the top left of this page. If you're taken back to this page, you're properly logged into Yahoo!.

If you're logged in on this page, then the problem is not with your Yahoo! password but rather your Yahoo! Mail account. Since your password is working across other areas of Yahoo!, changing your password will not resolve the issue.
