Allowing and Blocking Specific Domains

Depending on the blocking level you choose, you may need to create lists of allowed and blocked domains for Pop-Up Blocker.

  • The High blocking level relies on an allowed list, which is a list of specific domains from which to allow pop-up windows. Pop-ups from all other domains are blocked.
  • The Low blocking level relies on a blocked list, which is a list of specific domains from which to block pop-up windows. Pop-ups from all other domains are allowed.
  • The Medium blocking level lets you optionally define both an allowed list and a blocked list to further customize how Pop-Up Blocker works for you.

Here's How

  1. Open the Pop-Up Blocker Options window. (Remind me how.)

  2. Click the Advanced button to open the Pop-Up Blocker Domains window.

Note: If you don't see an Advanced button, you have a newer version of the BT Yahoo! Browser. Click here to go to the tutorial for your browser.

Click the Advanced button on the Blocking Level pane.

  3. Click the Add button next to the Allow pop-ups list to add a domain to allow or next to Block pop-ups list to add a domain to block.

Click the upper Add button to add a domain to be blocked. Click the lower Add button to add a domain to be allowed.

  4. Enter the domain to allow or block, then click OK.

The domain appears in the allowed or blocked list.

  5. Add as many more domains to either list as you want.

  6. When you finish, click Close to close the Pop-Up Domains window and OK to close the Pop-Up Blocker Options window.

In addition to adding domains that you already know you want to allow or block, you can also add domains based on the Pop-Up Blocker's history.
