Yahoo! Web Hosting packages offer features and services that are comparable to the features and tools you used at Yahoo! Website Services. However, these services are not identical, and so, most likely, there are functions and features that will change, and things that you'll have to do differently.
- You will need to recreate and/or re-upload your web site pages. This will not be automatically done for you.
- You will need to recreate your email accounts. Yahoo! Web Hosting packages come bundled with web-based email with POP access.
- If you have PageBuilder files, you will need to use the "Import" command to open them back up in PageBuilder and some formatting may be lost in this process. PageWizard files will be uneditable within PageWizards after files are downloaded from Website Services and then uploaded to GeoCities; however you may import them into PageBuilder.
- The Web Hosting packages have different data transfer limits and an ability to buy more if needed. You should review these limits prior to signing up.
- You will lose all information to date that you have gathered with your site statistics program under Website Services. You should run a final stats reports before cancelling your Yahoo! Website Services account if you need historical statistics. Yahoo! Web Hosting has its own site statistics program that will automatically begin collecting information the day you sign up.
- Miva will no longer be supported. You will need to convert any Miva applications to FrontPage or PHP. PHP is supported by the Web Hosting Standard and Professional packages.
- Only FrontPage 2002 extensions are supported with Yahoo! Web Hosting packages.
- The Yahoo! Website Services Password Protection Tool will no longer be available. However, you will have the same functionality using a different tool with the Web Hosting packages.
- If you have any custom DNS records set up, they will be disabled. However, you will be able to set up either 5, 10, or 15 subdomains, depending on which package you choose.
- If you have more than one web site, you will need to set up each one under a different Yahoo! ID.
