If you have connected to your Web Hosting account but can't successfully upload a file, there may be a problem with the file itself.
Check your file name:
Your file names can contain only upper- or lowercase letters, numbers, underscores, dashes, and periods, and cannot begin with a period. If your file name contains special characters, symbols, or spaces in the file name, you'll need to rename it before you can upload the file.
Check the file type:
You can upload many kinds of files to your Web Hosting account, but if you see an error like "---Invalid extension" when trying to upload, you are most likely trying to upload a file type not supported by Yahoo! Web Hosting.
Check the file extension:
Most file names include an extension, a few letters that identify what that file can do, or in which category it belongs. HTML files (like web pages) typically end in .html, for example, while text files end in .txt, certain image files end in .jpg or .gif, and so on. The extension must match the file type.
When you begin your upload, our computers will check to make sure the file you are uploading has the correct extension. If you change the extension of a file — you rename the file from image.jpg to image.gif, for instance — our computers will recognize that the extension doesn't match the file type, and the upload will fail.
Tip: To convert a file from one file type to another, you must open the file in an editing program and resave it as a different file type. To convert a .jpg image to a .gif image, for example, you'll need to use an image-editing program (try an evaluation copy of Paint Shop Pro from Jasc Software).
Check the file size:
Depending on your Internet connection, you may experience problems when you try to upload very large files. We suggest that you not try to upload files larger than 2MB.
Finally, be sure to keep an eye on your available disk space. Your disk space is the amount of room you have available in your Web Hosting account to store files. If there's not enough room in your account to add the file you're trying to upload, the upload will fail. Find out what to do if you run out of disk space.
