How and why would I recalculate?

FrontPage's recalculate function repairs damaged links in your site and updates FrontPage data that may have become out of sync or malformed. We recommend recalculating your subwebs periodically to correct potential errors and ensure that your site functions smoothly.

You can recalculate your entire site at once or focus on a single subweb. Depending on the size of your site or subweb, recalculation can take quite a while, so be patient! During the recalculation process, you will not be able to access your site or subweb.

To recalculate:

1. From the Create & Update tab of your Web Hosting Control Panel, click "FrontPage."

2. Click the "Manage Site" or "Manage Publishing" link.

3. In the Manage Site area, locate the subweb you'd like to recalculate and click the corresponding "Recalc" link. To recalculate your entire site, choose "Recalc all."

4. If you're sure you want to recalculate now, choose "Recalculate."

5. You'll see an alert on the page reminding you that the recalculation is in progress, and you'll be unable to access your site or subweb. To review your updated status anytime, click the "Refresh" or "Reload" button in your browser.
