Transferring Music to a Portable Player

Transferring Playlists

If you use playlists in the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, you can easily transfer the music in any playlist to your portable music player.

Here’s How

  1. Prepare your computer to transfer music to your portable device. (Remind me how.)

  2. Click Playlists in the left navigation pane to see your stored playlists.

  3. Drag the playlist(s) you want to transfer to the device name in the left navigation pane.

    Drag a playlist onto the device name.

    You can also select a playlist in the left pane and then click the Send playlist to portable button (Send playlist button) in the center pane to transfer its contents to your player.

    Click the Send playlist to portable button.

    During the transfer, the device icon in the left pane displays a green arrow (Add playlist to portable device button). The Yahoo! Music Jukebox also displays progress messages in the status bar at the bottom of its window.

    If the Yahoo! Music Jukebox finds any problems while transferring the selected tracks, it displays a message with details about the problem, as in the example below.

  4. To stop the transfer of tracks at any time during the process, select the player in the left navigation pane, then click the Cancel button in the device display in the center pane.

    Click the Cancel button.

 

What’s Next

When the transfer is complete, the newly added playlist appears in the left pane along with playlists already on the device.

Note: Some players don't recognize playlists. For players that don't, the Yahoo! Music Jukebox still transfers the full collection of songs from the playlist to the device, but the order of the songs may be different than that of your original playlist.

You can set up the Yahoo! Music Jukebox to synchronize some or all of your music collection between My Music and the device. This is an easy way to automatically keep your transferred playlists current.
