What Is Messenger Music?
Messenger Music is a special feature of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox that lets you share music with other Yahoo! Messenger users. Using Messenger Music, you can view and hear your Messenger Music friends' music and allow them to view and listen to yours. You can even communicate instantly with other Messenger users by sending instant messages from within the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.
Note: Messenger Music does not enable or permit users to copy or transfer music files to other members, but it does allow users to listen to their friends' music through streaming.
In order to share and communicate using Messenger Music, your friends must have both Yahoo! Messenger and the Yahoo! Music Jukebox installed and running on their computers. You can invite your Messenger friends to join your Yahoo! Music Jukebox community so you can share your music with them.
Tip: To share music, you and your friends need to set Yahoo! Messenger to see the titles and artists of the songs in order to share music in Yahoo! Music Jukebox. For more information on how to set status preferences, review the Sharing Music With Messenger Friends tutorial.

Here’s How

Launch the Yahoo! Music Jukebox and sign in. (Remind me how.)

To access Messenger Music, click Messenger Music in the left navigation pane.
In the center pane you see your friends that are logged in with both Yahoo! Messenger and the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.

If you want to share music with a friend who is using Yahoo! Messenger but who isn't using the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, click the Invite your friend to run the Yahoo! Music Jukebox link.

Select the friend you want to invite to Yahoo! Music Jukebox from your list of friends, or type in your friend's Yahoo! ID, and then click the Send button.
Messenger conversation windows open on both your desktop and your friend's, inviting him to use the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. Once he accepts the invitation, he becomes a Messenger Music friend and can begin sharing music, too.

If one of your Messenger Music friends is listening to a song that you'd like to hear, click the name of the song.
Tip: For you to see the titles and artists of the songs your friend is listening to, he must set up Yahoo! Messenger to display music information as the status message

To view a friends' music collection, click the View Music link next to his name. To view a friends' profile, click the View Profile link.

To start instant messaging with one of your Messenger friends, click the Send Instant Message link.
What’s Next
If you want your friends to be able to see and listen to your music, be sure you've got your Messenger Music preferences set the way you want. Here's how:
- From the Yahoo! Music Jukebox's Edit menu, select Preferences.
- Select the Messenger Music option in the Preferences window.
- Check the options that you want, then click Apply.
- Click OK to close the Preferences window.

- Instant messaging: the ability to exchange messages in real time with other people over the Internet.
- Messenger Music friends: your Yahoo! Messenger contacts whom you can share music with because they are running the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.
- Stream: to play music from a server (for example, over the Internet) rather than from source files on your computer or from a CD.
- Yahoo! Messenger: an application that lets you communicate using your voice, text, or other means with one or more people over the Internet in real time (instantly).
- Yahoo! ID: the name by which a person is known to all Yahoo! networks.
