Sharing music is a fun way for you to communicate with your friends through music! You can share your music collections and explore new music from your friends' collections. To share music, your friends need to be Yahoo! Messenger contacts and Yahoo! Music members. You can invite your friends to Yahoo! Music if they’re not already members.
Before you start sharing music, you and your friends need to set preferences in the Yahoo! Music Jukebox and Yahoo! Messenger.
To set Yahoo! Music Jukebox preferences:
If you want your friends to be able to see and listen to your music, be sure you've got your Messenger Music preferences set the way you want. Here's how:
From the Yahoo! Music Jukebox’s Edit pull-down menu, select Preferences.

Select the Messenger Music option in the Preferences window.
Check the options that you want, then click the Apply button

Click OK to close the Preferences window.
To change your Messenger status to show what you're listening to:
In Yahoo! Messenger, click Preferences from the Messenger pull-down menu.

Select Yahoo! Music in the Category list, then select one of these options: Artist Name - Song title, or Artist Name - Song title - My song rating.
Click the OK button.
Now whenever you're listening to Yahoo! Music, your Messenger friends will see the name of the artist and song (and rating) next to your name in their Messenger window.

Now you can begin to share your music with friends, and listen to their music.
Sharing music is different from Network Music. Network Music lets you stream tracks from your Yahoo! Music collection to your stereo or sound system using a network media player. Sharing music lets you stream tracks from your Yahoo! Music collection to your friends on Yahoo! Messenger. The Getting Started With the Yahoo! Music Jukebox tutorial describes Network Music in more detail.
