Sharing a Playlist Using IM

Did you just create a great new playlist? An easy way to share any of your playlists with a friend is to send a link to the playlist in an instant message using Yahoo! Messenger.

Here’s How

  1. Select the playlist that you want to share in the left navigation pane. (Remind me how.)

  2. In the playlist's display in the center pane, click the IM link above the playlist description.

Click the IM link above the playlist description.

  3. In the window that appears, select the friend you want to share your playlist with from the list of your Messenger contacts, then click the Send button.

Select a friend to share the playlist with from your Friends list.

Tip: If the person you want to IM the playlist to isn't online, you can still send him an instant message. He'll see your message the next time he signs on to Messenger.

On your computer, a conversation window opens displaying a message to let you know that Messenger has sent your invitation.

You have invited a friend to check out some cool Yahoo! Music content.

  4. Your friend also sees an IM window on his computer, with a link to click if he wants to accept your invitation to share your playlist.

A friend has invited you to check out some cool Yahoo! Music content.

When he clicks the Play this song link, the Yahoo! Music Jukebox window opens on his computer, displaying your playlist in the center pane. From this display, he can choose to play the whole playlist or any of its songs.

If your friend doesn't have the Yahoo! Music Jukebox on his computer yet, he'll see a message inviting him to get it.
