Selecting a Station

LAUNCHcast Radio is a free streaming-music service that provides an extensive collection of pre-programmed and custom radio stations. With LAUNCHcast Radio, you don't have to select an individual song to play or build a playlist, you just click a radio station and listen!

If you upgrade to LAUNCHcast Plus (a premium version of the standard LAUNCHcast Radio), you get these additional features:

  • Commercial-free radio
  • Unlimited song-skipping
  • High audio quality
  • Unlimited customized radio
  • More than 120 pre-programmed stations
  • Mood stations
  • Influencers (for new music)

 

Here’s How

  1. To access LAUNCHcast Radio, click LAUNCHcast Radio in the left navigation pane.

    Click the LAUNCHcast Radio link to access LAUNCHcast Radio.

    Depending on your subscription status, you'll see the LAUNCHcast Radio or the LAUNCHcast Plus page in the center pane.

  2. Select a music category from Genres or Themes to begin your radio station selection.

    Yahoo! Music displays a list of stations in the center pane.

  3. Click a station and start listening!

What’s Next

In addition to listening to pre-programmed radio stations, you can create your own customized station—My Station—that plays music based on your ratings.

Words to Know

  • Genre: a category of artistic composition marked by a distinctive style, form, or content, such as rock, classical, or jazz.
  • Influencer: Yahoo! Music members who you want to influence the music played on your LAUNCHcast Radio station and in My Recommendations.
  • LAUNCHcast plus: the premium, advertisement-free version on LAUNCHcast Radio.
  • Mood: a profile you can set up to listen to your customized LAUNCHcast Radio station filtered by one or more genres. When you listen to that mood, you hear music within the genres you selected.
  • Playlist: a list of songs that you assemble and organize. Use playlists to program your listening, as well as to copy files to portable devices or to burn your own CDs.
