Other Ways to Create Playlists

Here are a few other quick ways to create and populate new playlists:

In each case, you select the contents first, then create the playlist.

 

Here’s How

To create a new playlist from My Music:

  1. Click My Music in the left navigation page to display your music collection.

    Tip: See the Adding Music to Your Collection tutorial to learn more about My Music.

  2. Browse or search through your collection to find the music you'd like to use as the basis for a new playlist.

    Select how you want to browse My Music from the pull-down menu.

  3. Drag the items you want—songs, albums, artists, or genres—from My Music in the center pane to Playlists in the left navigation pane to create the new playlist.

    The Yahoo! Music Jukebox creates a new playlist, using information from the first track (for example, the artist and album name) as the playlist's name.

  4. Feel free to rename the new playlist! (Remind me how.)

 

To create a new playlist from Yahoo! Music Unlimited:

  1. Click Y! Unlimited in the left navigation page to access the Yahoo! Music Unlimited home page.

  2. If you're a Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscriber, be sure that you've signed in.

    Note: If you're not a Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscriber, you'll only be able to listen to 30-second samples of the songs you select for your playlist.

  3. Locate the music that you want to include in your new playlist by browsing or by selecting a search option from the Search drop-down menu (Artist, Album, Song), entering your search word or words, and clicking the SEARCH button or pressing your computer's Enter key.

    For example, you could search Yahoo! Music Unlimited for all songs with the words "silent night" in the title.

  4. From the search results, select the items that you want to include in a new playlist.

    Tip: To select all the items that the search returned, right-click in the list of results and choose Select All from the menu.

  5. Drag your selection from Yahoo! Music Unlimited in the center pane to Playlists in the left navigation pane to create the new playlist.

    The Yahoo! Music Jukebox creates a new playlist, using information from the first track (for example, the artist and album name) as the playlist's name.

  6. Rename the new playlist if you wish. (Remind me how.)

 

To create a new playlist from your LAUNCHcast Radio station:

If you haven't yet created your customized LAUNCHcast Radio station, you need to do that before continuing.

  1. Click LAUNCHcast Radio in the left navigation page to display the main LAUNCHcast page.

  2. In the My Radio section of the page, click the Create a Playlist based on My Station button.

    Click the Create a Playlist based on My Station button.

    The Yahoo! Music Jukebox creates and displays a list of songs—the My Station temporary playlist—based on your LAUNCHcast preferences and ratings.

  3. You can review this scratch playlist, removing tracks you don't want to include and rearranging the contents by dragging songs up and down.

  4. When you've got the list organized as you want, click the Save as Playlist button at the bottom of the window.

    Click the Save as Playlist button.

    The Yahoo! Music Jukebox creates a new permanent playlist called "My Station Playlist".

    My Station Playlist appears in the left navigation pane.
