Adding Influencers

Influencers are Yahoo! Music members who you have selected to influence your Yahoo! Music recommendations and the music that plays on your LAUNCHcast Radio stations.

Tip: You must be a LAUNCHcast Plus or a Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscriber to add Influencers.

 

Here’s How

  1. Open your music profile and open your listening preferences. (Remind me how.)

  2. To begin adding influencers, click the View your influencers link in the Influencers pane.

    Click the View your influencers link.

  3. Click My Similar Members or search for a Yahoo! ID.

    You may not have any similar members if you haven’t rated a lot of music. However, you can still search for other members by entering their IDs in the My Influencers section.

  4. To browse for a member with a Yahoo! ID, type in the ID and click the GO button.

    Tip: You don't have to know the entire Yahoo! ID. You can type in a portion of the ID and Yahoo! Music will display all members who match your entry.

  5. Double-click a member's name to review his or her music profile.

  6. If you like the music in the profile, click Add as Influencer.

    Click the Add as Influencer button.

    Tip: Your ratings have priority over your influencers' recommendations, and their recommendations only affect songs that you haven’t yet rated.

  • Music profile: the information that Yahoo! Music stores about your music tastes and listening preferences. Your music profile is associated with your Yahoo! ID. You can make it public to share your music preferences with friends.
  • Rating: information that a member provides about how much he likes a particular song, artist, or album. Yahoo! Music bases its recommendations on a member’s previous ratings.
  • Similar Member: a Yahoo! Music member who has similar music tastes based on his or her ratings of songs, artists, albums, and genres.
  • Yahoo! ID: the name by which a person is known to all Yahoo! networks.
  • Yahoo! Music Unlimited: a collection of more than two million songs, available by subscription and for purchase through the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.
