You can send a file using Yahoo! Messenger, as long as your contact is willing to receive it; you can also receive files from contacts who send them to you. To send a file, you must meet the following conditions:
If you're already in an IM conversation with a contact, you can send one or more files by simply dragging them onto the IM window.
Locate the file you want to send on your computer, and then drag and drop it onto the IM window.
A message in the IM window informs you that you are waiting for your contact to accept the file.

When your contact accepts the file you see a progress bar as the file uploads to your contact's computer.

Then you see a confirmation that the file has been sent.

If your contact does not accept the file, you receive a declined message.

There are other ways you can send a file to a contact, such as copying and pasting files onto the IM window.
