Searching for Contacts

If you can’t find a particular contact in your Yahoo! Contacts, you can perform a contact search.

Here’s How

  1. Click Contacts on the left navigation bar.

Click Contacts on the left navigation bar.

  2. Click inside the search box on the left below the Contacts tab.

    Click inside the search box.

  3. Type part or all of the name or address you want to find.

As you type each character, the list of contacts displayed gets shorter. Only those contacts whose information contains the characters you are typing remain on the list.

For example, if you type y, most of the contacts remain on the list, since the letter "y" is part of many names and addresses. If you add a, the list of contacts is reduced to only those contacts whose information contains "ya". Those letters might be part of someone’s name or address, but the list would also include all of the contacts with Yahoo! addresses.

  4. When the search box contains any characters, the clear icon appears on the right. To clear the search box and display all of your contacts, click the clear icon.

Click the clear icon to display all of your contacts.

What’s Next

If you’re familiar with the Yahoo! Address Book interface from using Yahoo! Mail Classic, you always have the option of working with your contact information in Address Book by going to http://address.yahoo.com. Changes you make in Address Book will also be visible in Yahoo! Contacts when you use the all-new Yahoo! Mail.
