If you are using the Store Editor portion of your account to create your online presence you may want to print this page for reference as you build your site.
The Yahoo! Store Editor provides a quick and easy way to get your online Store up and running. The Yahoo! Store Editor publishes information to your Catalog Manager (a database of your products); Yahoo! Shopping uses your product catalog to retrieve information about your products.
Next, you can start creating pages in the editor using the "Section" & "Item" buttons. To edit the basic look of your pages you can click "Variables". For a definition of the fields on the Variables page, you can click on the Help button located at the top of the page. For more information on using the Store Editor please see:
It is also possible to upload your items in bulk using the Database Upload feature. For information on this please see:
Supported fields for CSV files
When you have created pages that you are ready to make live to the public, you will need to click "Publish" in your Store Editor.
You then have a choice of where to direct visitors to your domain. Each Merchant Solutions account comes with a Web Hosting account. By default all traffic to your domain (www.your_domain.com) is directed to the home page of your Web Hosting account. If you wish instead to direct visitors rom your domain to your Store home page (store.your_domain.com) you will need to switch your traffic usign the Domain Traffic Option. For more information on switching your domain traffic refer to Domain Traffic Switching Options
If you would like instead to direct visitors to your Web Hosting home page, you will need to create a homepage for your account at the www.yourdomain.com address. To accomplish this, please follow the steps below:
When creating your home page, you can link to the home page of your Store, section pages, item pages, or any other pages that you would like to be accessible from the home page. To locate a Store page URL, you can view your published site, and then copying the URL from the address bar and paste it into the location on your Web Hosting home page where you are creating your link.

Note: If you have choosen to use the Store Editor to create your site most all of your changes to pages, templates and items should be done through the Editor and not through Catalog Manager. Aside from adding the fields required for your items to be included in Yahoo! Shopping and making minor updates, most of your editing should take place within the Store Editor itself. This is especially important for database uploads. Perform these updates in the Editor rather than the Catalog Manager. Also, it is important not to move any section pages or items with accessories into new tables within the Catalog Manager as this can cause publishing errors.
After you are done creating your pages, you will want to get familiar with the "backend" of your Store. Your Store Manager is where you can configure the shipping costs for your Store, review your site's statistics, customize your order form, and more. This is also where you will open your store for business when you are ready.
