Checkout Manager General Release 04/12/2006

These release notes contain a brief list of features and changes associated with the Checkout Manager General release as well as resolved known issues.

What's New

With this release, Checkout Manager is now out of the beta period and available for general release. Thanks to all merchants that helped test Checkout Manager and reported issues. The focus for our developers has been on fixing the major known issues in order to get Checkout Manager out of beta testing. You can consult our list of resolved issues to see specific issues that have been addressed with this release.

During this phase of the Checkout Manager release, Checkout Manager is the default for all signups on or after 04/12/2006. Merchants that signed up prior to this date can continue to test and enable Checkout Manager pages. All merchants will need to use Checkout Manager in the future, but a date to remove the older checkout flows has not been set. Yahoo! recommends merchants thoroughly test their custom checkout pages, and enable after reviewing the known issues.

New Features

  • More customization of fields: merchants can now customize field labels and display of fields on the Order Review, Order Confirmation, and Order Status pages. Custom fields added to shipping or billing pages can now also appear on the Order Review, Order Confirmation and Order Status pages. Learn more.
  • Email me a copy of order field customizable: merchants can now modify the text for this field, and also select to set the field on or off by default. Note: This field must be enabled on the Shipment and Order Status page to display in checkout. Learn more.
  • Customize PayPal payment pages in Checkout Manager: merchants can use Checkout Manager to upload a company logo, and set the header, border, and page color. Learn more.
  • Minimum order value: allows you to set a minimum order value below which buyers will not be able to check out. This is useful for sites with low cost items that want to ensure a minimum order total for processing an order. Learn more.
  • Maximum order value: allows you to set a maximum order value at or above which buyers will not be able to check out. This is useful for sites with high cost items that receive frequent fraudulent orders. Learn more.

This release addresses many known issues with Checkout Manager and also other miscellaneous issues.

485890 RESOLVED: Custom text above a certain length and with certain font types do not fit within the progress indicator tabs. Merchants are advised to limit the text for progress indicator labels, choose appropriate font types, and preview their selections and adjust if necessary.

613079 RESOLVED: There is no space between the CVV input and CVV image in FireFox for the Billing Page.
403626 RESOLVED: There is excessive white space (top of page) displayed in source code view of checkout page.
403977 RESOLVED: The First Name and Last Name fields (when separate) appear on separate lines.
445328 RESOLVED: If a buyer inadvertently omits multiple required fields on the billing page, errors may not display at the same time.
450484 RESOLVED: Clicking "Cancel" from the Address Verfication page displays a dialog that the page is insecure.
461635 RESOLVED: The UPS Shipping Tool in the Order Manager is showing valid addresses as "Address Not Validated".
478965 RESOLVED: Floating cart overlaps the Billing section when a buyer applies a gift certificate for payment.
481637 RESOLVED: The font type for field display name and field help text are not updating to match selections in Global Visual Styles. The font color for field help text is also not updating to reflect selections in Checkout Manager.
483972 RESOLVED: Buyers may see spacing issue with UPS disclaimer text on the Order Review page if they click the "Send Order" button more than once.
485731 RESOLVED: Expiration year field may appear misaligned in certain flows.
502127 RESOLVED: Zip/postal code field is not recognizing codes below five characters.

593994 RESOLVED: Buyers checking out using PayPal from the shopping cart with an order that does not meet the minimum order requirement, will see a security alert dialog (returning from secure PayPal pages to a non-secure shopping cart).
499503 RESOLVED: Items added or modified in the Order Manager are not updated correctly in the Order Status page for buyers.

Note: While items added or modified in the Order Manager will show up correctly on the Order Status page, there is a known issue that the Sub-total and Total are not updated correctly on the Order Status page.
460538 RESOLVED: The Minimum-Order variable is not currently supported in custom checkout.
416018 RESOLVED: The Time in Transit and Rates and Services modules do not get updated if the quantity is updated in the Shopping Cart. The floating shopping cart will display the correct shipping charges for the selected shipping method.
421617 RESOLVED: Field help text does not display for custom checkbox fields.
411354 RESOLVED: "Order number" and "Card or account number" fields do not appear in title case (first letter capitalized for each word) as with other fields.
418155 RESOLVED: Custom field at top-most section appears above the section header.
448243 RESOLVED: Address Validation - Suggested address vaildation lists displays more than once. Note Only affects merchants using UPS OnLine Tools with Address Validation enabled.
403063 RESOLVED: No Section headers are shown on the Order Review page.
448091 RESOLVED: The Address Validation page appears under the following circumstances:
  1. The merchant is using UPS OnLine Tools with Address Validation enabled.
  2. The buyer selects a UPS shipping method
  3. The connection to UPS is down.
480408 RESOLVED: Buyers using the Safari browser on the Macintosh platform will see fields misaligned in the Billing info section for single-page checkout flow.
448126 RESOLVED: Buyers may see an invalid gift certificate code error message when the database is inaccessible.
488353 RESOLVED: Buyers will see the "Related Items" cross-sell header aligned right under the following conditions:
  1. Merchant selects shipping and billing info on the same page.
  2. Merchant has cross-sell items.
  3. Buyer adds cross-sell item into cart.
508890 RESOLVED: Buyers continue to receive order confirmation emails even if the Order Confirmation email and Bounced email fields are empty and buyers see notification on the Order Confirmation page that an email will be sent.
555443 RESOLVED: Buyers that purchase downloadable goods from a store using Checkout Manager (version 3 checkout) will no longer be able to download goods if the merchant disables Checkout Manager and reverts back to the old (version 1) or new (version 2) order forms.
418505 RESOLVED: Gift Wrap charges are shown incorrectly in preview. Preview shows the charge as "per item" regardless of gift wrap setting.
421692 RESOLVED: When editing the field label for a standard section, clicking "Cancel" button after removing the field label will result in a page not found error.
396097 RESOLVED: When the field type for shipping method is set to radio button, field does not display correctly in preview only.
416011 RESOLVED: If inventory set to display with availability, "In Stock" column does not show in preview.
446830 RESOLVED: Time in Transit & Rates and Services modules are showing up for non-UPS shipping method in preview.
446761 RESOLVED: Gift Wrap checkbox is selected in preview, but no gift wrap is reflected in the cart.
449416 RESOLVED: Merchants modifying an order in the Order Manager, and viewing the order confirmation, will see the Order Status page displays the Options column.
450249 RESOLVED: The Yahoo! logo incorrectly shows as Merchant Solutions for Yahoo! Store.
483709 RESOLVED: Buyers are able to complete order with PayPal as the payment method without supplying a shipping phone number (if one has not been entered by the buyer with PayPal).
527688 RESOLVED: Yahoo! Network orders are no longer being tracked and reported to merchants.
