Creating a Coupon with Simple Promotional Email

Three coupon options are available in Simple Promotional Email: use an existing coupon, create a new coupon, or do not include a coupon.

Note: To use coupons, the coupon field must be enabled in the checkout pages of Checkout Manager. In most cases, the coupon field is enabled by default.

If the coupon field has been disabled, go to the Page Configuration section of Checkout Manager and enable the "Coupon Code / Promotional Code" field, then publish your store. Please see Adding, Hiding and Editing Fields in Sections for more information.

Use an existing coupon

If you have already created one or more coupons for your store, you may choose to send an existing coupon with your message. To use an existing coupon:

  1. Select the "Existing" radio button in the Coupon field.
  2. Choose a coupon code from the pull-down menu.
  3. Check that the information displayed is your intended coupon offer.

Note: Targeted item coupons and expired coupons cannot be selected using the Simple Promotional Email tool.

Create a new coupon

If you do not have existing store coupons, or do not wish to use one, you may choose to create a new coupon.

  1. Select the "New" radio button in the Coupon field.
  2. Choose "$" (dollar amount) or "%" (percentage amount) and fill in the coupon value field. The number must be a positive value, with no more than two decimal places.
  3. Decide if this value applies to orders over a specified dollar amount, or to all orders.
  4. Choose an expiry date. You may enter it in MM/DD/YYYY format, or choose it using the calendar feature.
  5. Enter a coupon code. Your coupon code must begin with a letter, may not contain spaces, and should be easy to remember. (Example: thankyou.) Any uppercase letters will be converted to lowercase, and only alphanumeric characters, underscores and hyphens may be used.
  6. Check that the information displayed is your intended coupon offer.

Do not include a coupon

If you do not wish to send a coupon with your message, select the "None" radio button in the Coupon field. A message asking "Are you sure? A coupon will not be sent." will be displayed.

Note: Remember that including a coupon with your message is an effective way to encourage product sales.

Note: Simple Promotional Email is currently limited to Yahoo! Merchant Solutions and Yahoo! Store customers who use Store Editor to build their store pages.
