Note: The following document applies only to merchants that signed up prior to 04/12/2006 have access to the version 1 and 2 checkout flows.
Because the checkout process is perhaps the most critical aspect of your store, Custom Checkout will allow merchants to design, customize and test their custom checkout pages without worrying that potential issues may cause problems for buyers. Once merchants are satisfied with their testing of custom checkout pages, merchants can then enable their custom checkout pages.
To test custom checkout:
When clicking "Set", you are placing a special cookie on your computer. When you click an order button in your store, the cookie will redirect your browser from your existing shopping cart page to your custom checkout page. If you wish to test on multiple computers, you will need to set the test cookie on each. Also, if you get an error when trying to load the custom shopping cart page, be sure you have published your Order Settings in the Store Manager; your custom checkout pages are not generated until you save and publish your Order Settings.
Placing a test orderTo place a test order, go to your site and click any order button. You should see your Custom Checkout shopping cart page. Complete the checkout process to view the pages in your custom checkout flow. Be sure to mark the order as "Canceled" in the Order Manager as you are placing a real order in your live store.
