Exploring Recommended Music

When you rate songs and artists, you are creating a profile of the music you like and dislike. Yahoo! Music searches millions of categorized songs and artists to find songs similar to the music you have rated and creates lists of recommended music.

Exploring recommended music is easy! When you sign in to Yahoo! Music Unlimited, you'll see music recommendations. Select a song to listen to and then rate that song, artist, or album. When you listen to your radio station in LAUNCHcast Radio, the music you hear is based on recommendations from Yahoo! Music.

 

Here’s How

To explore recommended music from Yahoo! Music Unlimited:

  1. To access Yahoo! Music Unlimited, click Y! Unlimited in the left navigation pane.

    Click the Y! Unlimited link to access Yahoo! Music Unlimited.

  2. The main page of Yahoo! Music Unlimited has a Top 10 section organized by songs, albums, and artists. From the songs tab, you can choose to Play Top 10 Songs or play songs individually, or click the albums and artists tabs to explore the recommended top ten albums and artists.

To explore recommended music from LAUNCHcast Radio:

  1. To access LAUNCHcast Radio, click LAUNCHcast Radio in the left navigation pane.

    Click the LAUNCHcast Radio link to access LAUNCHcast Radio.

    The music you listen to in My Station is based on the songs, artists, and albums that you have rated highly, and songs that your influencers have rated highly.

    Tip: LAUNCHcast Radio evaluates your ratings in order to recommend music and compile a list of songs and artists that play on My Station.

  2. Click My Station to listen to your customized radio station.

    Click My Station to access your customized radio station in LAUNCHcast Radio.

Words to Know

  • Influencer: a LAUNCHcast user that you select to influence the music played on your station. Songs that an influencer rates highly are more likely to play on your station.
  • LAUNCHcast Radio: a streaming music service that allows you to create your own customized station tailored to your tastes and provides an extensive collection of other music stations that offer a wide variety of genres and themes
  • My Station: your customized radio station in LAUNCHcast Radio.
  • Rating: information that a member provides about how much he likes a particular song, artist, or album. Yahoo! Music bases its recommendations on a member’s previous ratings.
  • Yahoo! Music Unlimited: a collection of more than one million songs, available by subscription and for purchase through the AT&T Yahoo! Music Jukebox.
