Accessing (Popping) Non-AT&T Yahoo! Mail

Adding an Account Editing an Account Retrieving External Email Sending Mail Using an External Address Deleting an Account

Adding an External Mail Account

You can configure AT&T Yahoo! Mail to retrieve messages from most external mail accounts to which you have POP3 access (accounts that you can access using an email client application such as Outlook, Eudora, or Netscape Mail). For example, you can use AT&T Yahoo! Mail at home to access your POP mail account at work.

The AT&T Yahoo! Mail server retrieves messages from an external mail account for you to view in a web-based email client.

To set up AT&T Yahoo! Mail to access and send email from an external mail account, you need the following information about your external account:

  • Your email address: AT&T Yahoo! Mail uses the email address to send messages so they appear to come from your external account.
  • Your user name: This is different from your email address. Typically it is the part of your email address before the @ symbol.
  • Your password: The password is whatever you use to access your external mail account. It is not necessarily the same as your AT&T Yahoo! password.
  • The POP mail server name.
  • The POP mail server port: You only need this information if the port number is something other than 110.

AT&T Yahoo! Mail Customer Care doesn’t know and can’t provide you with information about your non-AT&T Yahoo! email accounts. Contact your Internet service provider or network administrator if you need assistance gathering this information.

Tip: You can’t use AT&T Yahoo! Mail to retrieve messages from a web-based email account such as Hotmail or from another Yahoo! Mail account that hasn’t been set up for POP access.
