Welcome to the all-new AT&T Mail. This tutorial highlights what’s new and what’s different in the new Mail for people who already use AT&T Mail Classic.

Tip: If you’re brand new to AT&T Mail, we suggest that you begin with the Getting Started With AT&T Mail tutorial.

First of all, you don’t need to worry about your old messages and address book (contact information)—even though the appearance is different, all your data is still there. And other AT&T Mail Classic features that you’ve come to depend on—such as personal mail folders, mail filters, and access to non-Yahoo! mail accounts—are all still available. With the new AT&T Mail, you just have a newer and better way of working with your email, with quick access any time to all the messages in any folder.

As for what’s new, you’ll notice that some trusty friends have new names in AT&T Mail:

  • The Bulk folder is now the Spam folder.
  • "Yahoo! Address Book" is now known as "Yahoo! Contacts". You can learn more about working with contacts in the Getting Started With Yahoo! Contacts tutorial.
  • Categories of contacts are now called "distribution lists".

You should also know that you can switch to AT&T Mail Classic at any time.

 

Here’s How

  1. To temporarily switch from AT&T Mail back to AT&T Mail Classic, click the Mail Classic link at the top of the window, just below your user name.

    Click the Mail Classic link to use AT&T Mail Classic.

  2. In the window that appears, click the Switch to AT&T Mail Classic button to confirm that you want to leave the new AT&T Mail for now.

    Click the Switch to AT&T Mail Classic button.

    This takes you back to the version of AT&T Mail that you’re already familiar with.

  3. When you’re ready to come back to the All-New AT&T Mail, use one of these links:

    • Click the All-New Mail link in the upper right corner of the AT&T Mail Classic page.

      Click the All-New Mail link.

    • Click the Options link in the upper right corner of the AT&T Mail Classic page.

      Click the Options link.

      On the Options page, click the Try it now! link to return to the new AT&T Mail.

      Click the Try it now! link.

Words to Know

  • Distribution list: a group of contacts to whom you want to send the same email message. (Formerly called "list".)
  • RSS: a standard distribution format that web sites and blogs can use to send updated headlines to users through a service like Yahoo!. (The acronym is commonly expanded to Really Simple Syndication.)
  • Spam folder: a permanent folder that SpamGuard uses to hold messages it considers spam. (Formerly called "Bulk folder".)
  • Yahoo! Contacts: a listing of people and their email addresses associated with each AT&T Mail account; also known as Address Book.
