Saving a Message to the Drafts Folder

Sometimes you want to save a copy of a message that you’re writing before you send it. For example, you might need to stop in the middle of writing the message to do something else, or you may want to send one version of the message and keep a draft for modifcations. You can save a message in progress as a draft in your Drafts folder. Later, you can open the message, finish writing it, and then send it, or even save a newer version to the Drafts folder again. You can also send the message and keep a copy of it in the Drafts folder for further modifications.

AT&T Mail helps you by automatically saving a draft of your composition periodically. To be sure that your draft includes everything you’ve written, save a draft yourself.

Here’s How

  1. Open a new message tab and begin writing your message.  Learn more

After a bit of time, Mail saves a draft and displays a message telling you so at the top of the page.

  2. When you’re ready to save your unsent message, click the Save Draft button at the top of the tab (or type Ctrl+s).

    Click the Save Draft button.

AT&T Mail saves the message in your Drafts folder but leaves the message tab open. You can use the Drafts folder to save your message so far and continue working on it, or you can close the message and open it later.

  3. To close the draft message tab, click the X button on the tab (or type Ctrl+\).

Click the X to close the tab.

Tip: Messages remain in the Drafts folder until you send or delete them.
