Composing a New Email Message

Composing is addressing, writing, sometimes attaching files, and sending an email message. For each new message you compose, AT&T Mail opens a new tab.

Tip: If you want Mail to automatically add a signature to your outgoing emails, create the signature before your begin composing your first message. When you begin a new message, you’ll see the signature in the body of the message input area.

 

Here’s How

  1. On any AT&T Mail page, click the New button.

    Click the New button.

    Tip: You can also start a new email message by selecting Email Message from the New menu or by just typing n.

    Select New > Email Message.

    The new message tab appears.

    The New Email Message tabEnlarge Message mode—Switch the type of message between email, chat, and SMS text. Inbox tab—Click to open your Inbox. Home tab—Click to display the Mail home page. Compose tab title—Shows the message subject after you type it in the Subject box. Links—Send feedback, access mail options, and view online mail help. Compose tab toolbar—Use these buttons to take actions on the Compose tab. From box—Select the return address that you want your contacts to see when they receive your message. To box—Type the email address(es) to which you want to send the message. Click to display the blind carbon copy box. Carbon Copy box—Type the email address(es) to which you want to send a copy of the message. Subject box—Type the subject of the message, a few words to give the recipient(s) an idea of what the message is about. Click to switch the message from HTML to plain text. Text formatting toolbar—Use the toolbar to format the message text. Message text box—Type your message here. Message mode—Switch the type of message between email, chat, and SMS text.
