Why would I want to reset extensions?

When you activate FrontPage, you install special files called extensions in your GeoCities account that allow you to publish your site successfully with FrontPage. Your extensions allow your FrontPage software to communicate with the Yahoo! servers, and make possible certain FrontPage-based functionality.

If for some reason your extensions become damaged, or if you accidentally delete any of your extensions, you may notice errors on your site, and you may no longer be able to publish using FrontPage.

Resetting your extensions may help. Resetting your extensions restores your default extensions by deactivating and then reactivating FrontPage publishing on your site. When you reset extensions, you will remove all FrontPage extensions from your account, disable all subwebs, and unassign all authors. The FrontPage activation tool will then reinstall FrontPage extensions and reassign the authors who had previously been granted publishing privileges in your account.

Please note that the FrontPage reset function reactivates only those subwebs to which authors have been assigned. If you remove all the of the authors assigned to a particular subweb or your root web before resetting, the subweb or root web will be deactivated but not be reactivated during the reset process.

To reset your extensions:

1. Click the "FrontPage" link on the Create & Update tab of your GeoCities Control Panel.

2. Click the "Manage Publishing" link.

3. Click the "Reset Extensions" button.

4. If you're sure you want to reset your FrontPage extensions, choose "Reset Extensions."
