The FrontPage user name/password prompt keeps popping up, and I can't sign in. What's wrong?

If you keep seeing a user name/password prompt even after typing in the correct sign-in information, try one of these troubleshooting tips:

  • Make sure you're using the correct publishing information. Please note that in the "Specify the location to publish your web to" field, you must enter your GeoCities domain name without the www, like this: http://widgetdesigns.com (replace "widgetdesigns" with your own domain name).
  • Verify the author user name and password.
  • Try recalculating your site. Recalculating can sometimes repair malformed data that could be causing the issue. Learn how.
  • If none of these strategies solves the issue, you may be experiencing a problem with your extensions. When you activate FrontPage, you install special files called extensions in your GeoCities account that allow you to publish your site successfully with FrontPage. If for some reason your extensions become damaged, you may notice errors on your site. Resetting your extensions may help. Learn more about resetting your extensions.
