Does SpamGuard Plus work if I use a POP email client?

Yes — but only if you have a Business Email address associated with an AT&T Yahoo! ID (SpamGuard Plus is not available for users with POP-only email addresses). How it works:

If you're using POP, SpamGuard Plus will filter your mail, and the contents of your Spam/Bulk mail folder will by default not automatically download when you access your messages using a POP mail client (learn how to change this setting).

However, if you opt to change this setting and download all your messages, including spam, SpamGuard Plus can help you filter spam by adding the word "Bulk" to the subject line of suspected spam. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your account at http://mail.widgetdesigns.com (be sure to replace "widgetdesigns.com" with the domain associated with your email address).

  2. If you're using the new Mail interface:

    • Click "Options" in the upper-right corner of the page, then choose "Mail Options" from the pull-down menu.

    • On the left side of the page, select the "POP & Forwarding" option.

    • On the POP & Forwarding page, click the "Set up or edit POP & Forwarding" link.

      The original Mail POP & Forwarding page opens in a new window or tab.

    Note: If you're using the original Mail interface, click "Mail Options" in the upper-right corner of the page, then click the "POP & Forwarding" link.

  3. Select the "For messages that SpamGuard thinks are spam, add [Bulk\ as a prefix to the subject" checkbox.

  4. Click the "Save Changes" or "Save" button to save your preferences.

After you've selected this option, you can set up a filter in your mail client to automatically sort messages with the word "Bulk" to a specific folder. To set up this kind of filter, please refer to your program's help files.

Important: If you have a POP-only Business Mail address, all incoming messages will be delivered when you download new messages to your email program, including spam.
