Working With Messages in the Sent Folder

When you send an email message, by default BT Yahoo! Mail automatically saves a copy of the message in the Sent folder. You can reply to, forward, and delete messages in the Sent folder.

In addition, you can move messages from the Sent folder into other folders. This feature is helpful for organising related messages. For example, say you’re planning a reunion. You can create a Reunion folder and move all of the messages you’ve sent about the event from the Sent folder into the Reunion folder. (You can also move related incoming messages into the Reunion folder.)

Here’s How

  1. Click Sent on the left navigation bar.

    Click the Sent folder.

The Sent tab displays all of the messages in your Sent folder—the messages that you’ve sent and haven’t moved or deleted.

You can reply to, forward, delete a message in this folder, or move a message to another folder, just as you would in any other folder.

Tip: Unlike other mail folders that show you who sent the message, the Sent folder shows whom you sent the message to. Keep this is mind when replying to a sent message. Because you are the sender of the message, clicking the Reply button addresses the reply message to you. If you want to reply to everyone who received the original message, use the Reply to All option on the Reply button’s pull-down menu.

    Click Reply to All.

Tip: You can’t move messages from other folders into the Sent folder.

  2. If you do not want BT Yahoo! Mail to save your sent messages automatically, you can change your preference for this option. Select Mail Options from the Options menu.

Select Mail Options from the Options menu.

    The General options page appears.

  3. In the When sending messages section, deselect the box next to Save a copy of the message in the Sent folder.

    Deselect the automatic saving option.

  4. Click the Save Changes button.

    Click the Save Changes button.

Tip: If you disable the automatic save feature, remember to copy yourself on any important messages you send. You’ll receive your copy as an incoming email message in your Inbox.

What’s Next

Use the Drafts folder to hold your unfinished email messages until you are ready to send them, and the Sent folder to help you track the messages you send.
