We created Yahoo! Shortcuts to help you instantly find what you're looking for. Shortcuts include a set of keywords and one special character (!) that will change the way your search works. When you use shortcut keywords as part of your Yahoo! Singapore Search, the information appears right on your Search results page. And adding the shortcut ! skips past results to the place on Yahoo! you want to go.
Keywords and How They Work
There are two different keyword shortcuts for two types of information:
- For weather, the keyword is weather. (Use with a location.)
- For news, the keyword is news. (Use with any topic.)
Weather
You can get the current weather of over 50,000 cities around the world. - Just type: "weather" + city + state.
Example: weather Denver CO - If you don't include the state and we find multiple cities with the same name, we'll show you the weather for the city with the largest population, with links to other cities of the same name.
News
To get the latest headlines right away, just type "news" and a topic.
- Example: news computers
This will display the top 3 headlines related to computers with links to additional stories. The most recent headline will appear first.
Navigating with a !
The exclamation point (!) is a feature unique to Yahoo! Search. It means "take me there!" If you type "!" at the end of certain search terms, you'll bypass search results and go straight to the relevant Yahoo! service.
- Type in the name of any Yahoo! feature or service followed by ! and you will go directly to the main page of that service. This is a new way to navigate throughout the Yahoo! Network. For example:
- Type "news!" to go to Yahoo! News.
- Type "mail!" for Yahoo! Mail.
- Type "finance!" to go to Yahoo! Finance. etc.
- You can also type "yahoo! sports" or "yahoo! mail" right into the search box.
