We divided the Yahoo! Search results page into sections, so that it's clear and easy to find what you want. We'll show you the types of results that are relevant to your search, and you'll likely see some or all of the following:

Sponsor Results
Sponsor Results are sites that pay for placement in search results on terms that are relevant to their business. These listings appear on Yahoo! Search results pages and other sections of Yahoo!.

You'll see Sponsor Results when they're relevant to the specific search terms you used. For example, if you search for "caterers," you'll see Sponsor Results for web sites that provide information about or have catering services . The Yahoo! Search results pages separate Sponsor Results from other results so you can tell them apart.

Web Results
Web Results are the most relevant web pages found by Yahoo! Search Technology in response to your search terms. Web Results may include sites that participate in the Inktomi Index Connect™ or Search Submit™ programs. Sites from both of these programs pay to be included in our search engine index, and for Index Connect, sites also pay to be reviewed for relevance.
Within Web Results you may also find:
 Open in New Window Click on this icon to open site in an additional browser window, keeping your Yahoo! Search results page in view.
- Cached: A link to a copy of the page saved by the search engine, in case the site is unavailable. Your search terms will be highlighted on the cached page to help you find the relevant content.
- More pages from this site: Click on this link to search for other matching pages within this particular site.
- Category: Any web result with a link labelled "Category:" under the description is also listed in the Yahoo! Directory. Click on the category links to go to the Directory and browse a collection of sites on the same subject.
- Open as HTML: When a web result links to a PDF file, we give you the option to view the information as a web page instead of downloading the file. Your search terms will be highlighted on the cached page to help you find the relevant content.
Other Ways to Search
By clicking on one of the tabs at the top of the Search Results page you can change or refine the type of search results you wish to see:
- Images - Image search results are sites ranked by algorithm.
- Directory - Directory search results are sites from the Yahoo! Directory and are ranked by algorithm. The Directory is a human-created and maintained library of web sites organised into categories and subcategories. Sites who participate in Yahoo! Express pay for an expedited review for potential inclusion in the Directory.
- News - News search results are sites derived from multiple sources that you can rank either by algorithm or date.
- Business Finder - Business Finder search results are paid business listings provided by our third party partners.
