Use the Account General Information page to view basic information for an account, such as the account name and ID. You may also use this page to specify settings for the account status, the display URL, and blocked continents.
When an account status is On, eligible ads in the account may be displayed. When an account status is Off, ads in the account should not be displayed.
Note: If you turn the account status from On to Off, all campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and ads will still maintain their individual status settings independent of the account status. Once you turn the account status from Off to On, all campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and ads with the appropriate statuses (e.g. Active) can start to run again. For this reason, you cannot look at an ad with ad status Active to know whether it is running. To troubleshoot, check the account status first, then the campaign status, then the ad group status. If any of these are off, paused, or inactive, the ad may not run even if its ad status is Active.
To change the account status:
Click the Administration tab > Accounts subtab.
If you have one account, the Account Summary page opens.
If you have more than one account, identify the account to edit and click the Account link. The Account Summary page opens.
In the Account General Information panel, click the Edit button. The Account General Information page opens.
Select Account Status On or Off.
Click Save Changes when finished.
The display URL appears at the bottom of your ad. Set a display URL on the Account General Information page to default in the display URL field when you are creating ads in your account. You may overwrite this URL during the ad creation process, but it may save you time if you manually create ads with the same display URL.
Note: Changing the display URL in the Account General Information page does not update previous display URLs in existing ads. The new display URL applies only to new ads.
Understanding Blocked Continents
Use blocked continents to indicate those continents from which you do not want traffic. For example, you may want to block traffic from Africa if you will not be selling or shipping to Africa. Select the checkbox for each continent to block. You cannot block your own continent, meaning the continent included in the market of your account.
Note: The accuracy of the blocked continents feature is not guaranteed and may vary depending on a number of factors.
Use the blocked domains feature to block your ads from appearing on certain domains or subsections of domains. For example, you might have a music-related product for rock enthusiasts and want to ensure that your ad won't appear on certain domains that apply to only classical music enthusiasts. You could then block the classical music domains so that your ads will not appear on those blocked domains.
To block domains, click the Submit Domains link. When the Block Domains page opens, enter the domains that you want to block. Refer to the Formatting Rules for Blocking Domains topic for formatting rules that you must follow for the domains to be blocked correctly.
You can specify whether or not you want the system to display alerts for particular categories. For each of the following categories, you can select On to enable the alert or Off to disable the alert:
Account Budget Opportunity alerts tell you if your account has reached its daily spending limit frequently over the last 30 days.
Campaign Budget Opportunity alerts tell you if a campaign has reached its daily spending limit frequently over the last 30 days, unless the campaign started recently, will end soon, or has optimization enabled.
Low Quality Index Ads alerts tell you if your account contains ads with low quality index scores.
Note: Account alert preferences are different from email notification preferences in that account alerts control whether or not the alert is generated in the first place. Email notification preferences determine whether or not you will receive an email notification when an alert is generated.
