Your Yahoo! ID provides a way for us to remember you. Many of the features provided by Yahoo! are personalized and customizable. Yahoo! Finance portfolios, Yahoo! Chat, My Yahoo! news, and Yahoo! Mail can all be personally configured. Your Yahoo! ID allows us to remember your settings, interests, and preferences.

Think of all of these features on Yahoo! as part of a network. Once you establish a Yahoo! ID you will have access to the entire Yahoo! network. You need only do this once -- your ID will work for every service in Yahoo!.

To open a new account or log in using an existing account, go to the Sign-in page.

To run the downloadable Windows version of Yahoo! Messenger, you need:

• a connection to the Internet
• an active (free) Yahoo! Account
• Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or higher

To run the Macintosh version of Yahoo! Messenger, you need:

• an active (free) Yahoo! Account
• PowerPC Mac with OS 8.5 or higher

To run the Unix/Linux version of Yahoo! Messenger, you need:

• an active (free) Yahoo! Account
• the Linux version of Messenger runs on the Intel chipset and has been tested on RedHat Linux 6.0, 6.1, 6.2
• the FreeBSD version requires GTK 1.2.3 or later installed and has been tested on FreeBSD 2.2, 3.4 and 4.1

To run the Java version of Yahoo! Messenger (which requires no download), you need:

• an active (free) Yahoo! Account
• either Netscape Navigator (3.0+) or Microsoft Internet Explorer (3.01+)
• both Java and JavaScript enabled in your browser
