What do I need to use Yahoo! Messenger?

Yahoo! Messenger is a free service that uses the connection you have established with your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Just download the Messenger software and sign up for a free Yahoo! Account.

Your Yahoo! ID provides a way for us to remember you. Many of the features provided by Yahoo! are personalized and customizable. Yahoo! Finance portfolios, Yahoo! Chat, My Yahoo! news, and Yahoo! Mail can all be personally configured. Your Yahoo! ID allows us to remember your settings, interests, and preferences.

Think of all of these features on Yahoo! as part of a network. Once you establish a Yahoo! ID you will have access to the entire Yahoo! network. You need only do this once -- your ID will work for every service in Yahoo!.

To open a new account or log in using an existing account, go to the Sign-in page.
