Adding a picture to your Yahoo! Canada classified ad is a great way to make your ad stand out.
To upload a photo for your classified ad, you will need to enter web address (URL) of the photo. Currently, we require that your photo has to already be located online. You can link to a photo that you have posted on any web site or in Yahoo! Briefcase.
Hint: if you don't have a web site and want to post pictures, the easiest way to do this is by setting up your own Yahoo! Briefcase.
Here's a brief, step-by-step description of how to create and upload a digital image for your new Yahoo! Canada Classifieds' ad.
- Create a digital version of your picture using a scanner (if you don't have one, ask a friend or try your local copy store). You need to save your image in .JPG or .GIF format. Save your picture at 72 dpi (dots per inch) for best screen resolution. If you don't have access to a scanner, take your film to be developed and scanned. Many photo-processing centers offer both services. Kodak will even provide you with a diskette containing your images. Learn more by visiting Kodak.
- Upload the image file that you just saved to a web address (URL) or to your Yahoo! Briefcase.
- Once your file is uploaded, find the location of the photo. If you are using Netscape, right click on the photo with your mouse. Select "View Image." The URL in the location bar shows the web address of the image. If you are using Internet Explorer, right click on the photo and select "properties." The window will show you the URL (address) of the photo. Highlight the address with your mouse, then right click to copy the url. Copy and paste the URL for your photo into the "Photo URL" field on the "Post Ad" page.
If you already have an ad on Yahoo! Canada Classifieds, adding a picture is easy.
- Go to http://ca.classifieds.yahoo.com and click "My Ads."
- Choose the ad you want to edit by clicking the edit link under that ad. This takes you to the Yahoo! Canada Classifieds "Edit" page where you will have the ability to change your ad. From the "Edit" page cut and paste the location of your image in the "Photo URL" field. Click the "Submit" button to put your change into effect.
