How can I handle abusive chatters myself?

Remember these features are always available:

Ignore
If you're using the java software, you can put someone on ignore by either clicking on their name once in the Chatters box and clicking \"Ignore\" or by clicking on their name on the chat screen itself, checking the ignore box and clicking “OK”.

Use this command whenever someone is harassing you or saying something you'd rather not see. If the person is disruptive to the whole group, please remind everyone else to use the IGNORE command.

Language Filter
The ability to control what language you do and do not see in the chat rooms is now in your control! To strengthen or weaken your language filter just click on the “preferences” button near the bottom of your screen and then pick your setting. Be sure to hit “save” when done.

Ignore Invitations
If you’re getting too many invitations to join a room you can choose to turn this option off. Simply click on your preferences button and insert a check in the “ignore all invitations box. Be sure to hit “save” when you are done.

PM Windows
If private message (PM) boxes are becoming a nuisance, relief is in sight. Click the Preferences button, uncheck “popup first private message in separate box”. Now, when other chatters try to private message you, it will appear in the regular chat window with (PRIVATE) before the message and a “reply” link after it. If you want to respond to the message, click on the “reply” link. Wait for a second and a private message window will load.

Want a short cut? Right click on the chat screen to pull up your preferences box!
