Why do I have problems logging in?

We suggest restarting or upgrading your browser and resetting your cookie.

In Internet Explorer 4.XX, select View - Internet Options – Advanced and check the box next to "Always Accept Cookies." In IE 5.XX or newer, set your Security settings to Medium or lower for the Internet Zone (Tools - Internet Options - Security).

With Netscape 4.XX or newer, click "Edit" on the menu bar. Select "Preferences" and then "Advanced," and make sure the browser is set to accept cookies.

If you continue to have problems, try signing out of Yahoo!7 Yahoo and then deleting your cache and history files, including your cookies.

Deleting Cache in Internet Explorer for Windows:

  1. Select "Tools" from IE's toolbar (in IE 4, select View instead).
  2. Click "Internet Options."
  3. Select the "General" tab.
  4. In the "Temporary Internet Files" section, click "Settings." The amount of disk space used should be about 2%. If the amount of disk space is more than 2%, then drag the pointer to the left to make the percentage lower.
  5. Click "OK."
  6. Click "Delete Files." When prompted whether or not to delete files, click "OK."
  7. Click "OK" to finish.

Clearing History Files in Internet Explorer for Windows:

  1. Select "Tools" from IE's toolbar (in IE 4, select View instead).
  2. Click "Internet Options."
  3. Notice the History Area of this window. Click "Clear History." When prompted whether or not to delete history files, click "Yes."
  4. Change number of days to keep pages in history to anywhere between 1-4 days.
  5. Click "OK" to finish.

Deleting Cache in Netscape 4.XX and newer:

  1. Click "Edit."
  2. Click "Preferences."
  3. Click the plus sign next to Advanced.
  4. Click "Cache."
  5. Click "Clear Memory Cache" then click "OK" when prompted.
  6. Click "Clear Disk Cache" then click "OK" when prompted.
  7. Click "OK" to finish.

When you sign back on to Yahoo!7 Yahoo!, make sure you check the box next to "Remember my ID & Password."

Finally, check that the security settings in Internet Explorer aren't set too high. If they are, you won't be able to download and run Java applets.

  1. Click "Tools (View in IE 4)."
  2. Select "Internet Options."
  3. Select "Security."
  4. Make sure the setting for the Internet Zone is at Medium or lower.
  5. Click "Apply."
  6. Click" OK."
