Can't get spades room to open

When I try to open a spades room I get an Application error message- Class Not found exception. When I click details , I get another window (shown below) Java Plug-in 10.17.2.02 Using JRE version 1.7.0_17-b02 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM User home directory = C:\Users\tom ---------------------------------------------------- c: clear console window f: finalize objects on finalization queue g: garbage collect h: display this help message l: dump classloader list m: print memory usage o: trigger logging q: hide console r: reload policy configuration s: dump system and deployment properties t: dump thread list v: dump thread stack x: clear classloader cache 0-5: set trace level to ---------------------------------------------------- Can anyone help me? Hi TomO,

- If it were me I would dump temp files and cookies as well as the Java cache, then restart my computer and try getting into a game room.

- If the steps above did not work, then I would uninstall my Java completely, restart the computer and then I would re-install Java 7's latest version or the one compatible with your computer.

cleared cache & temp files, deleted java and downloaded again. Same problem. Get into room but error message still appears. This is a new PC with Internet Explorer 10 & Windows 8. Could it be one of those?

My laptop also has Windows 8 with Internet Explorer 10. But my preferred browser is Firefox 19.0.2.

I have no problems accessing any multiplayer game rooms unless servers are down.

Is it just Spades you are having trouble with? Are you able to access any game rooms on Yahoo?

Do you know that you must be on "Desktop Mode" to enter Yahoo games with Windows 8 because Java will not run on the "Metro" page.

Finally got in to Spades room. I had to disable the Kaspersky firewall

Oh I see - I use Kaspersky as well and it is set up to use the Windows Firewall - glad you were able to resolve the problem

On your "Metro" page where you see all the apps, the bottom left corner app should be "DESKTOP", click on it and you will be on Desktop Mode and then you will be able to go to your Yahoo! Games as usual.

Also you might want to install this little program (got info from PC world newsletter) :

http://windows8startbutton.com/

It will install a "Start Button" on your computer and choose Win 7 appearance - it will be almost business as usual with that button!!

  • - Restore Windows Start button and Start menu on Windows 8!
  • - Make 'desktop mode' as your default Windows startup screen
  • - Choose appearance: classic windows, aero mode, Win 7 and more!
  • - Restore all your familiar windows menus and options
  • - All that and more, absolutely free!

I too have al the "symptoms" u described. IE 10 Windows 8 and Kaspersky. If I disable Kasp. firewall how does this effect kasp
