I am the commissioner of the League ID #37910. On January 28th, Andrew Bogut returned from his injury to play a 7 p.m. (est) game vs. Toronto. One of the managers in my league says he tried to put a waiver claim on Bogut about 5-10 mins. (around 6:50 pm) before the game began, however it gave him a system error (he could not recall the error # or what exactly he said). Later that evening, he noticed another manager was able to add Bogut at 9:26 p.m. that night, and wanted to know why this occured.
The league rules are: waiver mode-standard, waiver type: continual rolling list, and waiver period: 2 days. To my understanding, once a player participates in a game, you have to wait until the next day to add that person, which is what I initially told the manager with the issue. Once he told me that the other manager was able to add him after the game, I tried to figure out the issue but could not.
Does anyone know what the issue might be? Or has anyone else come across the same issue or one similar?

Did someone else have them on their team and dropped him? That should be the only reason he was on waivers in the first place. If not he should have just been a FA.
If he was on waivers, than it should go by waiver priority. Each manager would have a chance to put in a request to add him and at the end of the waiver period the manager with the highest waiver priority would have the rights to him.

He was not on waivers, he was a free agent and had been since he got injured at the beginning of the season. However, to my understanding, once a player has participated in a game, he cannot be picked up for the rest of the day. I've experienced this before, where I've watched a game, seen someone get hurt and try to pick up there replacement during the game and it gives me an error. If I remember correctly, after the game has been completed- I've tried to get on and pick him up and it still gives me an error. But I could be wrong.

The one manager is upset, because he said he's experienced something similar- where you cannot pick up guys during/after there game and wanted to know how the other guy was able to. We are just trying to figure out why he could not pick him up before the game started, however the other guy was able to pick him up later in the evening?

Hi,
I looked into this issue, and wasn't able to verify any issue. A couple of points - Your league uses Daily Today transactions. The important factor with Daily Today is that a player cannot be active if the game has started, and be used as a dropped. You can still add a player who's game starts, but they are locked on the bench.
Once a player's game starts, it does not prevent you from adding the player, only placing him in an active roster that same day. If you look at the roster on the 28th for the team that did get him, you will see that his is benched, and was unavailable to place in an active roster spot.
Unfortunately, without the error code generated, I can't give a specific reason why the initial owner couldn't add, but I've got a good guess.
Likely, the player that the manager was attempting to drop was within his game start time, and in an active roster spot. If he would have dropped a player from his bench, regardless of the game status, the transaction would have processed. EVEN if the player is injured, and is in an active spot, and his team started playing but he's sitting out, the player would be locked because he's in an active roster position.
Only players who's game has not started, or who is on the bench, can be dropped. Looking over the roster, he likely did not want to drop Martin, Gordon, or Parker from his bench. But again, without that error code, I can't say for sure, other than I do not see any technical issues with transaction itself.
Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I told the manager the same thing- without providing an error code, it's going to be tough to prove anything and reverse the outcome. Can you provide a link as to where I can read up on how transactions process on the waiver wire? Either way, thanks for the explanation.
