Traded Draft picks last year, one manager might not return.

I've been a commisioner for my yahoo league for about 8 years now. Last year we decided to experiment with the draft pick trading. As of now everyone from last year has return except for one person. Im not exactly sure how, or which picks he traded but im positive he did. IF he says he wont play, or just isnt showing up, what should i do and what happens to the draft picks.

I figured everyone from the previous year had to be back for the draft picks to count or something like that, the other thing i thought might work was having a new manager take over the team who is NOT coming, yes he will have to deal with whatever draft picks he has traded. Im not exactly sure how the yahoo system is making it work, so im not entirely sure on how this would work if the manager who should be returning doesnt make it.

What should i do??

Gino,

Great question! If the manager that was in your league last year is not renewing for the 2012 Fantasy Football season, you’ll need to have a new manager take over the team that the old manager owned. Any trades done by the old manager would follow the new manager that has taken over the team. This will allow your league to keep its trades intact for the 2012 season.

Essentially…any team that has done trades in a previous season needs to remain active for the current season, by either the previous owner renewing or having a new owner take over the team.

You can invite a new manager to take over the team via the following path:

Commish tools --> Invite Friends. Send an invite email from the team that you want your new owner to take over. Do not send an invite email from the New Teams section to the new owner.

In my keeper league if a team decided to make a trade last year involving this years picks then he would of had to pay this years entry fee at that time when he made the trade. (I hope that makes sense). It ensures that the manager is not just selling off his picks and leaving the league the following year.

In my league you are only permitted to trade picks one year forward, (we permit trades outside of yahoo, using a facebook event I create for the next seasons draft - Sep 2013 will go up shortly). You have to continue the picks going forward as long as the other party is still in the league, otherwise you ruin the entire integrity of your league. I have had new managers take over teams with draft pick alterations, it really is not a big deal, but do let them know. Just explain to the new guy this is the team he is inheriting and hope he accepts it, and if it is not favorable to him (like maybe the guy gave up his 3rd rd pick for mario manningham) offer him a lower monetary buy in for compensation. So if your league is $20 give him first 5 or 10 off, with maybe a stipulation that if he makes the playoffs he has to pony up the rest...

Hey was wonering since I have never played this game and was wondering how to get involved and develop a team and then join a league etc. Can you help me and le tme know where to find the info to do as I want?
