A

4-star rating tool: a graphical evaluation tool consisting of four stars and a ban icon, used to rate music, artists, albums, and genre.
AAC: (Advanced Audio Coding) an audio file format; AAC files use the .aac extension.
Avatar: a character that you can personalize to express your mood at any given time. It's like a virtual you. By changing hairstyles, clothes, accessories, and backgrounds, you can create your own unique persona.

Blog: a short form of weblog, a personal journal published on the Web.
Bookmark: a pointer to a song in the Yahoo! Music Unlimited collection that you'd like to listen to when you're online.
Browse: to explore videos by channels and make selections based on recommended offerings.
Browse tray: the bottom section of the video player where you are presented with a series of videos based on the specific channel that’s currently highlighted.
Burn: to copy music to a CD for playback through your home, car, or portable CD player.
Burnable download: a song you purchase individually that you can burn to a CD for playback through your home, car, or portable CD player.

CD: short for "compact disc", a small, portable medium for electronically recording, storing, and playing back audio, video, text, and other digital information.
Channels: custom-designed video selections based on Yahoo! Music programs such as emerging artists, exclusive performances, your recommendations, and more.

Download: to transfer a song from the Yahoo! Music Unlimited library or other source to your computer.

Genre: a category of artistic composition marked by a distinctive style, form, or content, such as rock, classical, or jazz.

IM: the acronym for instant message.
Import: to copy music from an external source, such as a CD or your computer's hard drive, into My Music.
Influencer: Yahoo! Music members who you want to influence the music played on your Yahoo! LAUNCHcast Radio station and in My Recommendations.
Instant messaging: the ability to exchange messages in real time with other people over the Internet.

LAUNCHcast Plus Premium Radio: the premium, advertisement-free version of LAUNCHcast Radio.
LAUNCHcast Radio: a streaming music service that allows you to create your own customized station tailored to your tastes and provides an extensive collection of other music stations that offer a wide variety of genres and themes to choose from.
Local music: content in My Music that's stored on your computer. You can listen to local music anytime, whether you're online or offline.

Messenger Music: a feature in Yahoo! Music Jukebox that allows you to share music with friends using Yahoo! Messenger.
Messenger Music friends: your Yahoo! Messenger contacts whom you can share music with because they are currently running the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.
Mood: a profile you can set up to listen to your customized LAUNCHcast Radio station filtered by one or more genres. When you listen to that mood, you hear music within the genres you selected.
MP3: (MPEG audio, layer 3) an audio format that the Yahoo! Music Jukebox supports; MP3 files use the .mp3 and .m3u extensions.
Music profile: a public web page provided with a Yahoo! ID that lets others learn something about the person associated with the ID, such as hobbies and favorite links. You and each of your contacts have a profile that others can view. You can have more than one profile and choose which profile others see.
My Music: your personal music collection in the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, where music that you've imported, downloaded, or bookmarked is stored.
My Station: a customized radio station in LAUNCHcast Radio.

Now Playing: Yahoo! Music Jukebox's temporary scratchlist that keeps track of songs as you play them. It is also a tool that lets you build your own playlists.
Now Playing Radio: the version of Now Playing that appears when you listen to LAUNCHcast Radio using the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.

Offline: not connected to the Internet or any other network.
Online: connected to the Internet. When you're online, you can access and stream music from Yahoo! Music Unlimited.

Playlist: a list of songs that you assemble and organize. Use playlists to program your listening, as well as to copy files to portable devices or to burn your own CDs.
Portable music player: a small electronic device for playing music. Different types of devices support transferring different types of music from the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.
Public playlist: a playlist whose creator has made available for sharing with other Yahoo! Music users.

Rating: information that a member provides about how much he likes a particular song, artist, or album. Yahoo! Music bases its recommendations on a member's previous ratings.

Similar playlist: a playlist generated for you, based on a particular artist or song that you like.
Stream: to play music from a server (for example, over the Internet) rather than from source files on your computer or from a CD.
Subscriber: a LAUNCHcast user who has chosen you to influence his or her LAUNCHcast Radio station. Songs, artists, and albums that you rate highly are periodically included on your subscribers' playlists.
Subscription-compatible music player: a portable music player that supports Windows Media DRM (digital rights management), which the Yahoo! Music Unlimited service uses.
Subscription music: songs added to My Music from the Yahoo! Music Unlimited library. You have access to this music as long as your subscription is current.
Synchronize: to cause items in multiple locations to match exactly.

URL: Universal Resource Locator–specifies the location of a file or web page, such as http://www.yahoo.com.

Video Lineup: a playlist of videos offering recommended choices, or created by the watcher by searching or browsing, and adding to the video lineup.
Videos: music videos streamed to your computer from Yahoo! Music. You can watch them for free; you can also order them in playlists (Video Lineup) for ease of viewing.

WMA: (Windows Media Audio) an audio file format that the Yahoo! Music Jukebox supports; WMA files use the .wma and .wax extensions.

Yahoo! ID: the name by which a person is known to the Yahoo! network. Yahoo! Music Unlimited membership and access to music is associated with a user's Yahoo! ID.
Yahoo! Messenger: a web-based tool that lets you communicate using your voice, text, or other means with one or more people over the Internet in real time (instantly); text-based messages are sometimes referred to as "instant messenger" or "IM".
Yahoo! Music Jukebox: a free desktop application that lets you listen to music, mix and burn CDs, import, manage and share music, transfer music to portable music players, and more.
Yahoo! Music Unlimited: a collection of more than two million songs, available by subscription and for purchase through the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.
Yahoo! Music Unlimited To Go: a Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscription that allows you to transfer subscription music to portable music players; it is an upgrade from the basic Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscription.
